Special Features and New Classes
AWCI Lighten Up
AWCI and N.C. Cooperative Extension Services will provide
a program, in conjunction with Sparta companies, to focus
on healthy life-styles. The program will be called
AWCI Lighten Up. The program provides information on
exercise and weight reduction and will start with a registration
to obtain participant’s information, and to gather
health information, such as current weight, BMI reading,
waist, hip and chest measurements, as well as blood pressure
reading.

Alleghany Memorial Hospital and Alleghany Wellness Center's Be Happy Be Healthy
Community Health Fair
will be held on the hospital grounds on
Friday, June 18th 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM and will include health
services information, lab work for adults, as well as fun activities
for the children. All free except the lab services.
Bring your family and enjoy a fun afternoon and
learn more about the healthcare services that your local hospital provides!

AWCI will host another Eat Smart Move More class. Registration is Thursday June 24th at
4:00 PM at AWCI. Jacquelyne Gordon will again be our fabulous instructor. The class is scheduled
for 10 weeks, and the cost is $10.00 for the entire session The Program is a weight-management program
and support group that uses a three-part approach to weight management:
Choosing a healthy diet
Moving more; and
Make lifelong behavior changes

The AWCI 2010 Summer Camp will be held in July. Session One: July 5 through 9
and Session Two: July 12 through 16. The cost per session is $150 per child, $135
for each additional child in immediate family. Age of camper is 6 through 13.
This year's camp is an active camp with some great activities scheduled. Joe Flowers
will again coordinate the camp and activities. Contact AWCI to sign-up now as maximum signup per
camp session is 15 campers.
